Recognizing outstanding female scholars in partnership with eSilicon

During STEMCON 2019, hosted in Danang on March 14 & 15, six outstanding Vietnamese female students received an eSilicon – BUILD-IT Female Engineering Student Scholarship in order to further pursue their studies in electronics and electrical engineering. The award is sponsored by eSilicon and implemented through the USAID sponsored BUILD-IT public-private partnership, which is led by Arizona State University.

Since 2018, the scholarship program has been recognizing excellent female students pursuing undergraduate degrees in engineering. Students most possess a passion to use their knowledge and experience in engineering to build solutions to pressing challenges in Vietnam and throughout the world.

To date, 13 scholarships have been awarded to help lighten the financial burden many students face, and most importantly to help motivate them to continue pursuing their studies.

During the award ceremony, winning students shared what the eSilicon – BUILD-IT Female Engineering Student Scholarship has meant to them.

“This scholarship has lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school: learning. Its generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community. I hope one day I will be able to help other students achieve their goals just like the scholarship helped me,” said Ms. Nguyen Hoai Nhi, fourth year student in electronics and telecommunications at Ho Chi Minh City University of Science.

“More than financial support, this scholarship is a spiritual encouragement for me to strive hard for what I truly wish for, and to never be afraid of gender discrimination,” added Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Gia Han, a second year student in mechatronic engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

In addition to the scholarships, eSilicon also provided paid internships to outstanding students to pursue practical experience at eSilicon Vietnam.
