Arizona State University seeks an Accreditation and Quality Assurance Specialist responsible for program assessment, related to Higher Education quality initiatives in Vietnam and Southeast Asia including BUILD-IT (Building University Industry Learning and Development through Innovation and Technology) and other projects and special initiatives in the region as assigned. The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Specialist will function as a member of the quality assurance and accreditation project team for the development and delivery of capacity training for partner institutions. The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Specialist will work in close cooperation with ASU’s local team in Vietnam, and report directly to the project director responsible for assessment and evaluation activities.

The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Specialist will collaborate with the project director in research design and planning, and will execute data collection, data summarization and reporting for both qualitative and quantitative data. Duties will include co-development and co-delivery of training resources and acting as a local resource for BUILD-IT project activities related to the implementation of quality systems and accreditation training and development; facilitating completion of reporting and self-study documents for partner institutions; conducting literature reviews and research; acquisition and examination of documents; conducting field observation and focus groups; and providing local oversight for data collection and monitoring functions.

A successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge and experience with assessment and evaluation including research design and planning, data collection, data summarization and reporting for both qualitative and quantitative data. Candidates should be capable of effective written and verbal communication in English and Vietnamese with ASU co-workers, institutional partners, company and government executives, university faculty members and members of the private sector. Candidates should demonstrate a strong command of qualitative data analysis experience utilizing technical tools for data analysis and reporting such as excel and Qualtrics. Demonstrated knowledge of AUN Assessment and ABET program accreditation preferred. Experience with project monitoring and evaluation preferred.

Candidate will be required to compete CITI online training for ethical research immediately upon hire and will participate in additional training as determined by project director.

SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM, as well some evenings and weekends.

PLACE OF WORK

The program assessment activities will predominantly take place in the premises of the ASU BUILD-IT Office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Specialist may be requested to travel within Vietnam and occasionally abroad to fulfill assessment and evaluation responsibilities. The specialist may also be required to work on-site with partner universities. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist local institutions in completing reporting and self-study documents.
  • Gather assessment data from a variety of sources; conduct subject interviews, focus groups, in-country surveys, field observations and document review, etc.
  • Provide oversight for local data collection and monitoring functions.
  • “Clean”, summarize, analyze, and report assessment data effectively.
  • Effectively utilizing technical tools for data analysis and reporting (Excel. Qualtrics, etc)
  • Conduct literature reviews, research, and analysis
  • Collect and report qualitative and quantitative data and assist in the teaching of others about these tasks.
  • Correspond and meet face-to-face with institutional partners as assigned, assisting QA staff in partner institutions, keeping assessment systems running smoothly, keeping records up to date, maintaining quality of data and processes, and ensuring positive relationships with partners.
  • Meet data collection and reporting deadlines. 
  • Maintain updated project management status and tracking using web based tools (ie Smartsheet)
  • Travel to project sites or meetings if assigned.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies
  • Collaborate with project teams in the development and delivery of quality assurance and accreditation training
  • Provide local coaching and support to project partners in quality assurance and accreditation 
  • Participating in other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Written and spoken Fluency in English and Vietnamese required

  • This position does not provide direct supervision of staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's or Master’s degree (preferable) in Education (focus on Higher Education), Business Administration, or Public Policy with 4 years full time experience in education.

OR

Any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired
