Last year the Building University-Industry Learning and Development through Innovation and Technology (BUILD-IT) program at Arizona State University, partnered with the University of Danang (UD), Danang University of Science and Technology (DUT), and Fablab Danang to host the first BUILD-IT Women in STEM Conference: "Women in Entrepreneurship and Innovation" in Danang, Vietnam. Nearly 300 participants including students, industry, education, and government leaders filled the UD auditorium last August for a day filled with technical, interactive presentations, networking, and dynamic panel discussions.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) has invited us to hold the one-day conference in their newly remodeled 800 seat auditorium. The Vietnam Association for Intellectual Women has also joined the planning committee, along with an appointee from the Vietnam National Council on Education and HR Development. With their collaboration, we will be inviting several women included in Forbes Top 50 Most Influential Women in Vietnam list to come to speak at the conference, in addition to other international female STEM influencers. The 2017 BUILD-IT Women in STEM Conference: "Gender Roles in Education, Leadership and Culture" will convene both men and women to focus on the evolving role of females in Vietnamese society, especially in STEM fields, and will inspire women to lead in their chosen area of expertise. This conference will raise awareness of important gender issues and will connect and empower women, helping them to realize their full potential.
Help us spread the word about this female-driven initiative and invite your colleagues and peers to join you at the second annual Women in STEM Conference. The official language of the 2017 Women in STEM Conference is English, with simultaneous Vietnamese interpretation provided throughout the plenary sessions.2017 Conference Highlights Outstanding Women in STEM Exhibition, sponsored by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology" Shifting the STEM Culture in Vietnam" keynote address by Assoc.
