The Maker to Entrepreneur Program - Training of Trainer workshop will prepare faculty participants to advance a subset of their EPICS teams to:

  • Conduct customer interviews and complete feedback-based prototype iterations.
  • Understand the basics of early-stage venture development, including sales and pre-sales (e.g., crowdfunding, purchase orders, letter of intents, etc.).Develop key venture deliverables, including validated value propositions, business models, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Receive mentoring regarding marketplace traction and legal aspects of founding a startup with Vietnamese entrepreneurs.
  • Make a first sale or pre-sale with an initial customer.
  • Develop an English language evidence-based pitch deck that is built upon real data garnered from an initial customer(s).

About the instructor, Dr. Brent Sebold:Dr. Brent Sebold is the Executive Director of Venture Development at Entrepreneurship + Innovation within Arizona State University’s Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development. In this role, Brent leads a variety of enterprise-wide startup support initiatives for student, faculty, and community-based entrepreneurs. Concurrently, Sebold serves as the Director of Entrepreneurship + Innovation at Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. Dr. Sebold is responsible for the organization and advancement of curricular and co-curricular entrepreneurship programs for all Fulton students and faculty. He also oversees the eSeed Challenge + Accelerator, which is the Schools’ premier new venture funding and support initiative. Brent also co-directs the Fulton Generator Labs, which is a 6,500 square foot workspace for student enterprisers. Prior to serving in these roles, Brent was the Director of Acceleration Curriculum within Entrepreneurship + Innovation. Additionally, he led the regional ecosystem development efforts for the U.S. Department of Defense’s implementation of ASU’s Furnace Technology Transfer Accelerator and operated Arizona Furnace 2.0 in partnership with several research and funding organizations throughout the state. Brent also ran ASU’s Edson Student Entrepreneur Initiative and the inaugural ASU Student Startup Bowl. During his tenure, he managed 40 Edson client companies who raised over $1.2 million in external funding and featured 10 grand prize winners in several global student startup competitions, including Entrepreneur magazine's 2011 Collegiate Entrepreneur of the Year. Brent earned a Business Administration degree from Ohio University and his Master and Doctor of Education degrees at ASU. He is also a co-founder of MakersTour.com.
