The 2022 series of BUILD-IT forums focus on key topics from the BUILD-IT playbooks as prioritized by university partners. Topics may include Institutional Accreditation, Project Based-Learning, Digital Immersion Learning, Program Accreditation (AUN-ABET), Industry Advisory Boards, Women in STEM, Maker Innovation Network, and Faculty Development and Active Learning, etc. Sessions will be held face-to-face (public health permitting) utilizing locations in Hanoi and HCMC. ASU and Vietnamese faculty experts will teach and conduct these sessions. BUILD-IT anticipates that the Playbooks will become recognized resources and utilized for university and HEI planning and will be utilized to build scale – reaching additional universities and engineering programs throughout Vietnam for sustainable, nationwide change.

About this International Accreditation and Recognition Forum: BUILD-IT has been helping the Vietnamese model universities implement robust quality systems to attain international recognition. The tools and techniques BUILD-IT teaches for accreditation and assessment have become part of the institutional process and contribute to the sustainability of quality education in the long-term – increasing the breadth of programs seeking and achieving international accreditation and recognition beyond the targeted programs. Since the inception of BUILD-IT, a total of 79 partner programs have already achieved international/regional recognition. The agenda uses a hybrid structure of virtual and local site based facilitated discussions to bring together a national audience focused on implementing best practices for international recognition, e.g., ABET accreditation or AUN-QA evaluation.

Expected Outcomes: This forum provides an introduction to a structured approach and key factors leading to successful ABET program accreditation or AUN-QA program evaluation. Increased capacity development of participants via keynote address and panel sessions highlighting Vietnamese successes in obtaining AUN-QA or ABET accreditation. Proven models and key success factors will be highlighted, all within the Vietnamese context. The afternoon workshop provides guided exploration of necessary steps towards successful international recognition of programs.
