Attendees: Leaders/Faculty from CTU

Expected Outcomes:  The 21st Century Skills in the Classroom series provides participant-centered instruction on how to continue developing skills as a classroom instructor.

Education is inherently collaborative. No one teaches alone. There is always an ‘other’ involved. Educational collaboration exists in a variety of dynamics: student-student, student-teacher, teacher-teacher, and teacher-administrator. This workshop is designed to develop teamwork skills between teachers in a university setting. Participants in this workshop learn to identify their strengths and weaknesses as team players, as well as learning the various roles each team member assumes when working in groups. This workshop also explores the four stages of team development which empowers team members to recognize their own team optimization preferences. To explore and develop these skills, participants engage in team building activities which allow them to reflect upon their own performances.

The structure of this course includes an engaging PowerPoint presentation with opportunities to engage with the instructor via virtual engagement. This is followed by several short, target specific breakout sessions designed to allow participants to learn from each other.

Faculty participating in this training should expect to be able to perform the following skills effectively and efficiently:

  1. Identify their own strengths and weaknesses as team players.
  2. Recognize the four types of team members and determine to which role they most relate.
  3. Leverage their knowledge of team roles in groups to better recognize strengths and weaknesses in others.

Recognize and distinguish between the four stages of team development and react accordingly to optimize team performance.
